Brixton is a district located in South London, England. It is inside the London Borough of Lambeth. It included in one of 35 large centres in Greater London.

Brixton district is mainly a residential area with a famous substantial retail sector and street market. It is a multiethnic society, with a significant percentage of its residents of Afro-Caribbean descent. The district lies inside the inner South London. Borders with this district are Streatham, Stockwell, Clapham, Herne Hill, Camberwell, and Tulse Hill.

Brixton is 2.7 miles south-southwest from the geographic centre of London near to the Brixton Underground station at Victoria Line.

Brixton district has excellent facilities for transportation through buses and rails. These connect it with the major areas including Central London.

The adjacent station is Brixton railway station on the Victoria line. The district situated on many main roads. The A2217, A203, A204 ties the area to Vauxhall Bridge. As well as the A23 London to Brighton road goes through the region from the north to the south.

Brixton was due to be the main interchange of the South Cross Route, part of the London Ringways plan. However, this was cancelled in the 1970s.
